I recently did my first emerge rsync and emerge world today....I then did a etc-update...but didnt take much notice of what I was updating. (Will definatly know for next time). I run through a netgear router that allocates a 192.168.x.x address and NATs through to my broadband internet. When I boot up and do a ifconfig, it tells me my eth0 has pulled 192.168.0.2 (which is fine) but if I try to open a page up I can not connect, nor can I ping any web pages. By doing a:

Code:

dhcpcd eth0

It then re-enables me to search the web, and ifconfig after tells me the same info before I did the dhcpcd. Obviously something has happened since I updated as I didnt have this problem before. Whats going on?

Cheers

Blindy

do check route, you'll probably have to add a new route and edit your /etc/conf.d/net as well

you could check in your /etc/conf.d/net if there's only the line dhcpcd eth0 that is uncommented (maybe there's also a line you didn't comment wich specify that your card is 192.168.0.2".

Another solution, and at least it should work but not very leet, is to add dhcpcd eth0 in your /etc/conf.d/start.local
