G4 (PPC) stage 2 & 3 ISO question

Hello!

I am brand new to Gentoo Linux and I am anxious to get started tinkering with it.

I am running a Mac G4 867 and I noticed that there are versions of Gentoo (1.4) that are optimized for Altivec.

Yet the stage 2 & 3 ISO's have been taken down for the time being.

Should I wait for them to be put back up or should I download the stage 1 and see what I make of that? If it is recommended to wait for the 2 & 3, does anyone know when they might be put back up?

Go ahead and go from stage 1. The problem with the Altivec stage2 and 3 is that they were compiled with -maltivec but not with -mabi=altivec. So make sure you add both of those to your CFLAGS and you should be a happy camper.
