Meanwhile I've changed the light green output to normal green. I hope this looks better on black-on-white. |

My PORTDIR is /usr/portage but its a symlink to a directory on another partition, but I don't have that problem with 0.2.0_alpha2 even after deleting /var/cache/portagedb |

portagedb-0.2.0_alpha3 is out. Thanks to the help of linuxcommander who is now a developer on the project, we have 4 fixes in alpha3. He also made the current Ebuild: http://portdb.sourceforge.net/portagedb-0.2.0_alpha3.ebuild.tar.bz2
Also thanks to the users in #portagedb on freenode for their help with testing.
Check it out
Edit: Err, and a Happy New Year 2005! |

This alpha works fine for me!
On a 1.6GHz Centrino Laptop I get:
Code: |
$ time portagedb s patho
* games-puzzle/pathological
Available versions: 1.1.3
Installed: no
Homepage: http://pathological.sourceforge.net/
Description: An enriched clone of the game 'Logical' by Rainbow Arts
real 0m0.593s
user 0m0.542s
sys 0m0.039s
|
Better yet: timing is about the same for the 'S' option.
Thanks a million, guys!! _________________ -- skally |

hey skally, thanks for testing! nice to see that it works on other systems
unfortunately speed has decreased significantly since i don't know how to determine the ARCH anymore. on some systems /etc/make.profile/make.defaults is empty, so I only could think of calling "portageq envvar ARCH" each time which takes most of the run-time during a simple search. when this is resolved, search speed should be back to normal.
add: with alpha4 the amd64 issues should be extinct. |
