Hi,
I would like know what config is required if I want get either KDE or Gnome sessions available in the menu "session" of my X Login screen. Currently, Login Screen is setup with GDM.
What should I do to get the choice between KDE or Gnome when PC boot? _________________ Olivier PELERIN |

Afaik it is as simple as install KDE and make sure that u copy the kde.desktop file which is given with KDE to the X-session directory: /usr/share/xsessions
Then it should appear in GDM as an option |

Depending on your needs, you might have a look at the Qingy thread as well. Qingy is a framebuffer login that you can use as an alternative to gdm/kdm/xdm. The big advantage is that it is much faster to startup. I also think that it is cool. |

qingy is great and my login manager. but you can always use gdm and kdm which come with kde and gnome instead xdm which sucks. |
