HI,
I installed the netapplet-1.0.8. I try to run the netdaemon command but it just doesn't start ("ps aux" says nothing). If I start the daemon as root then I can see it but still when I run netapplet it says "the netdaemon service is not running". What to do?
Thanks in advance.

Alfredo

In order for the netapplet to work you either need a recent (masked) baselayout or a version of the wireless-config scripts installed. Your on you own to get those working =)

Once you get those installed you can use the latest netapplet ebuilds located here
http://home.comcast.net/~fergus750/netapplet-1.0.0-gentoo-r6.tar.gz

They should work.. if you have problems post back here and I can have a look...

As for the the signals strength issue.. i have the same problem with the ipw2200 driver.. Haven't really looked into the core of the problem as I figured it was a driver issue and would be fixed eventually. I was more concerned with getting some better behavior out of the util than anything else..

I'm trying to download the ebuilds but the page is not available. Has it moved?

Since Novell has discontinued to distribute the source code, I'd guess it's been buried and declared dead. :/

It's been proposed for inclusion in 2.18.
