ISO-8859-1 should work just fine. Code: | $ showkey -a
Press any keys - Ctrl-D will terminate this program
å 229 0345 0xe5
Å 197 0305 0xc5
^D 4 0004 0x04
$ locale charmap
ISO-8859-1

You can also use ISO-8859-15 and UTF-8. What keymap setting do you have in rc.conf and Xkblayout in xorg.conf? Try sv-latin1 and se, respectively. _________________ Please read our FAQ Forum, it answers many of your questions.
