Ugly but not useless, its nice to occasionally see your cpu temps in case your cpu fan is starting to fail. _________________ If something can go wrong it probably already has. You just don't know it yet. ~Henry's Modified version of Murphy's Law |

Don't mind the haters. They're just jealous they didn't think of it first. What boggles my mind is, how in the world can a few menu entries be described as "ugly"? Is the font ugly? The spacing between the characters? Looks like the critics are a bunch of kids who only like to do whatever the "cool crowd" in is doing, ignoring everyone else. |

forreal. I don't know it could possibly be considered "ugly".
Thanks for doing this, i'm sure it'll solve some issue that people who are not torsmo zealots have. _________________ Nitrogen - GtkMM based background setter/restorer, please test!

I've written a python script that generates an openbox3 pipe menu (generated on the fly) which can tell you your processor, motherboard, and hd temperatures (see the screenshot).

Upon further reflection, I think this is a brilliant idea. This is the point of view of a person who thinks things like gkrellm et al are ugly, and take up valuable space. A menu as a way to get this info quick is awesome. |

pretty cool.
I have no use for it, but it makes more sense to have that stuff in a pop up menu than eat my screen real estate with gkrellm or something. |

Suggestion:
Have a config file that defines, normal (green) temp, warning (yellow) temp, and emergency (red) temp, and then color code the temperture digits accordingly.
Also, have built-in defaults in case there is no config file present.

nice script... but if i want to look its too much work for me (clicking)... torsmo for example prints that on my desktop, so i see it with one look.
btw.. I use openbox and its great ! _________________ Dell Latitude d610 1.6Ghz 1GB

Good idea, I'll try to implement something like that. But does openbox allow colours in the menu? I'll have to find out. _________________ Play ET? Come by #gentoo.et on freenode!

I also don't see how you can call it ugly, as its only a menu entry. To be honest it's not my cup of tea, but every development is a step in the right direction. _________________ Bunder for president ^o^ |

I've released version 0.2, which includes support for exterior temperature. The links are all the same
It depends on pymetar:

This is overkill imo.
I just do this:
alias temp='cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM0/temperature | cut -c 26-29' |
