I am trying to run kazaa lite with winex and it installed fine, but when i run it, it gives me this: | Quote: | winex Kazaa.exe
wine: Unhandled exception, starting debugger... |
Any ideas? _________________ Matthew Hauck

Did you follow these instructions:
| Quote: | | http://frankscorner.org/wine/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=22&page=1 |
I followed them to the letter and it runs fine for me. |

Hmmm. It tells me that it couldn't find the library "shlwapi.dll" Hmmm _________________ Matthew Hauck

Cancel that. I now put it in the /etc/winex config file instead of the ~/.transgaming config file and it gets the same initial error message (see beginning of post). _________________ Matthew Hauck

Did you copy over those windows dll's from a 9x/me windows installation?
commctrl.dll
comctl32.dll
shdoclc.dll
shdocvw.dll
shlwapi.dll
They're not optional, you absolutely do need them. Along with this:
[AppDefaults\\kazaa.exe\\DllOverrides]
"commctrl" = "native"
"comctl32" = "native"
"shdoclc" = "native"
"shdocvw" = "native"
"shlwapi" = "native"[/code] |

I wasn't sure waht they meant by that... I didn't know i had to actually copy windows dlls. I dont' have a 9x/me install to copy them from. If i find someone to get them from, where do I put them? Thanks _________________ Matthew Hauck

Someone posted this in another thread, but if you go here - http://www.drd.dyndns.org/index2.html - you can download all the dlls you'll need.
Edit: You need to put them in the windows/system directory on your wine "c:\" drive (check your wine config file to find out what it is). So if you've got it set to /home/auser/c, then you'd put them in /home/auser/c/windows/system. |

I downloaded them, and put that [AppDefaults blah blah] into my ~/.transgaming/config file AND I put it into my /etc/winex/config file. I tried putting the files into windows/system and windows/system32 and I got the same error as before for both. When I type "winex Kazaa.exe" I get a pop-up window that says | Quote: | | Failed to create empty document | then about 5 seconds later it closes and spits out the original error msg. Now I remember Franks corner said something abou tthat empty document thing...I'll go check that out. _________________ Matthew Hauck

When I tried to install it, it "wined" (get it ) about not having some dll, I forget which one. I heard from someone else that kazaa needs IE to run. When I tried to install it, wine complained as well about not being in windows or something. How do I get around this? _________________ Matthew Hauck

Check out this other thread where I posted my whole journey. I have seen every problem you described hudsonhauck, and now mine is working. You are likely very close to getting it to work.
