That computer in the security system box is pretty tight, You should mount it on a stud in your garage. :D Firewall?

I host my own (very) small scale website, mainly because I'm more interested in the admin side then the webmaster side.

Well, 1000rpm.net went down, lost all backups (that's all 1 of them) since January 2004, and the guys there are losers. They don't know how to work the system obviously!

I've now got better hosting somewhere else, so the offer is still open for free hosting but on a better more cranked up server (4 CPUs! YAY!).

And - DON'T TOUCH 1000rpm.net WITH A BIG FAT BARGEPOLE!

So that means that if the 4 people im hosting from this forum picked you earlier they would have been screewed 8O that sucks..

thats why i do incremental backup at midnight all the time.. and full time backups every sunday at 12:00PM

Im currently hosting 5 people on my dsl connection and i dont see any slowdowns at all my network is still fast and responsive.. is not about how much bandwidt you have or can give is how much bandwidt you can accomodate to each person withou hurting the other one!

plus i upgraded my bandwidth today. 3008Kbs/486Kbs nothing big but im getting there.. next year im gettin a T1 hopefully or will just get the business grade dsl for like $45 witch would be 8765Kbs/845Kbs not bad.. it all depends

Also mat make sure your server is secured and all connections are either in ssl or something else the only NOT encrypted connection on my server would be DNS-HTTP-FTP

everything else run on ssl

i was even thinking about running a full SSL server website and all.. but that uses alot of system resources!

sometime next month i will though! :P

all non ssl request will get rewritten with modrewrite into ssl request

well take care peep and im still hosting! if your interested email me..
