|
|
I've recompiled my kernel. With sound support as a module, and no other dirvers. Then I did an emerge alsa.
So far as I can see I followed the manual(s) literally.
All modules load without problem. artsd starts up together with KDE and doesn't complain. The mixer shows that line out and pcm are anabled. Any aplication that produces sound starts with no problem, no complaints about devices not being present etc..
Only there is no sound being produced.
And I know my card works, as I had sound with my previous kernel. I am positive my speakers are OK.
The thing is that I have no point where I can start atacking this problem. I have no error messages whatsoever. All modules load fine. Superficialy everything looks OK.
Some more info:
Kernel is vanilla 2.4.19, compiled with soundcore.o as a module.
After alsa start lsmod shows:
Code: |
bern-1 boot # lsmod

Try running alsamixer to check if your channels are muted. Also run :
everytime u change alsamixer settings to make sure everything restores on the boot-up.

As I wrote in my post I did check that no channels were muted, and none were.
So the problem must be somehwere else... |

do you load the kernel and alsa sound modules on startup? _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)

I found that if I ever did a recompile, I had to set alsa and my nvidia drivers up again. I never found a work arround for that. |
