|
|
I've been trying to get Xmame running for awhile now and with gxmame it finally happened I can play roms. However, the performance is less then 1 fps at full screen and the sound clips at a screen size any larger then postage stamp.
THe system is a p3 1gig 512 ram and an ati 9000
kernel is 2.4.26
I've been fighting forever to get 3d acceleration working with the ati and haven't been successful but I can't imagine it's required for mame.
Anyone have any ideas whats wrong here? under windows on a p3 450 I got playable performance but this is sad. |

I don't know about frame rates because I have never checked on those. But the games really are slower. (I'm talking about playing CPS2 games on xmame). And my CPU usage goes up by 100 % also, (not just with xmame but with all sorts of emulators, even nes emulators!). |

Yep I've noticed the 100% cpu usage.
I see that Xmame has different display methods to choose from but I haven't located any info on how to change them. ANyone have any experience getting a fast game out of a system similar to mine in performance? Is it possible? |

Oh for that you don't need to change anythihg, you'll find more than one executeable with the name 'xmame'. Like 'xmame.sdl' 'xmame.gl'. Although I can't say for sure those were the executeables 'cause I haven't used xmame in a long time now. Just use TAB completion and you'll find the other ones too.
For me all of them had the 100 % cpu usage, although games were playable! Have you tried "x-men vs street fighter" yet ? |

No problem I'd still recommend trying out "xmen vs street fighter" "xmen vs capcom" too.
Have a nice long summer |
