Just curious as to how long it took from stage 1 right through to compiling your system?

At the moment in compilation time (currently compiling the kernel) I reckon it has taken in excess of 48 hours compiling time.
It did take about an hour and a bit to compile my kernel on a P1 200 with mmx, however.. after compiling and checking my config I realised i'd set it to compile for a Pentium Pro and not a Pentium with mmx (d'oh).
At the end after i've compiled the kernel the only stuff that will be downloaded, compiled and installed will be apache and php.

That seems about right for your processor. I have a P2-300 box that took 12 hours to do the bootstrap.

i just set it up on a pII 450 with 312 MB of RAM, and a pre-encrypted drive (more for the hell of it than anything else), and i managed to set it up in less than a day i think. started bootstrap, went to sleep. woke up in the morning, started the system, went to school. came home, did the kernel, then everything else.

adding X took a bit longer, but nothing too bad.

i think it's more a function of memory than processor speed, but i'm not entirely sure.
