ok i have a kind of technical question regarding how samba handles network traffic. if I have 3 systems on my internal network all running samba, (system1, system2, system3) if system1 has //system2/share mounted as smbfs at /bigshare/sys2 for example and system 3 has //system1/bigshare mounted as smbfs at /netshare when I access a file that is in /netshare/sys2 does the traffic go through system1? or directly from 2 to 3? |

I don't know off the top of my head, but I'd run tcpdump on box 1 and 2 and then access the share from box 3. tcpdump should display how the traffic is flowing. _________________ -David |

samba is not intelligent about network connections, so the file acces will pass through all the levels ... There *are* some MS extenstions to this, but i doubt that samba did catch them allready ... |
