Hello all,

I've got a problem with xorg an direct rendering wich I can't solve.
Currently I'm working on an old system with an Ati 3D Rage IIC, and I want to get direct rendering running.
I'm using the 2.6.7-r11 Kernel with DRM-support.
I already configuered xorg.conf with load glx and dri ind the modules section, and I also enterd the "DRI"-section.
When I look into the xorg log-file all seems to be fine, he is loading the glx and dri modules, there seem to be no errors, but direct rendering isn't work.
I'm asking myself, if one of those warnings could have something to do with the problem:
"(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such file or directory)"
"(WW) ATI(0): Cannot shadow an accelerated frame buffer."

Maybe someone here has some clues what to do? I'm completly out of ideas, what the problem could be.

greetings,
Benjamin

As far as I know, the Rage II does not have a triangle setup engine, so DRI is not possible. Take a look at:

Hope that helps, and sorry!

Damn it. Thx alot, at least I now I know where the problem lies.
But it's not that bad. The computer in question is more like an object for training and experimentation at work :)
Maybe I will find another old card rotting away at work, wich I can get to work :)
