digital out? I think you need digital in somewhere out there to make it work, not only "digital speakers"... _________________ ·-=: lanark :=-· |

I have digital speakers, and the "digital out" from the audigy goes into the "digital in" on the speakers. I'm not too sure what you mean. I have analog out going to my TV so I can watch movies and lectures and such on it, and I want to have the digital out go to my speakers so I don't have to switch wires around all the time. This all works fine in windows, and I"m trying to get it to work in Gentoo. _________________ Matthew Hauck

My apologies, I don't understand you in the first place
May be you have checked this before, but, did you review your settings on the ALSA mixer to see if you has turn on the digital channels? _________________ ·-=: lanark :=-· |

A search for audigy AND digital turned up some threads. This one is a start, but not much help. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

If you enable Digital Output in emu10k1.conf and then run audigy-script, this should enable digital output through the yellow jack on the audgy which doubles as Center/Sub output and Digital Output.
I don't know if it works because I have never used Digital out, I simply copied the emu-dspmgr commands from various sources. The routes should be setup properly so that XMMS will play through the digital out, if you enable AC3 passthrough this might work for Xine/mplayer. |

I also have digital speakers, but my sound works great without any extra work...just installed alsa and bam! but, i think i know what he means when he says he wants digital out. In windows before you can have sound with digital speakers there was an option on the mixer that enabled or disabled Digital Speaker Output only. I think thats what he's looking for. Where can i check to see if i have it enabled or disabled??? |

iancurtis: you have digital enabeld if your sound works, and you plugged your digital speakers into your sound card via the digital port (on the audigy i think it is yellow), and not via the analog green and and black ports. _________________ Matthew Hauck
