Hiya,
OK, got Gentoo up and running nicely and went to install mplayer from the ebuild, so ran the usual emerge --pretend mplayer and was supprised to see qt, kde-env and arts required. I don't run KDE or use QT so I didn't want to install these and I have modified the USE flag to reflect this but this are still required by the ebuild.
I think that having QT and KDE required is over the top as these are not required to build mplayer. Does anyone know why these are required?
In the end I grab the code and built it myself and all works fine, just would have preferred to have done this via portage.
Cheers

Are you sure you have -arts in your USE flags?
I just tried emerge -pe mplayer|grep -E "(kde|qt|arts)" and none of kde, qt or arts would be installed.

How did you change the USE flags? If I set USE="-kde -qt -arts", then "emerge -pe mplayer" shows none of that stuff. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
