Hi,
After spending the lsat 3-4 days trying to get gentoo installed; I have finaly succeeded! Yay! I installed KDE only to find that the package.mask din't have the effect I thought it would, it installed 3.0.4!
Now, the thing is this, if I install KDE-3.1_beta2, will my existing KDE be overwritten or can they exist simulataneously?
Also, how do I actually install this version of KDE?

comment out all KDE-3.1beta2 lines in /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask
and do an
| Code: |
emerge /usr/portage/kde-base/kde/kde-3.1_beta2.ebuild
|
You can install 3.1beta2 parallel to 3.0.x

| I am using 3.1 b2 & it works well....I upgrade because arts started segfaulting when 3.0.4 emerged & 3.1 still has the same problem. After unmerging arts it works ok |
