Volevo sapere, prima di incontrare eventuali difficoltà insormontabili, se è possibile spostare la partizione dove tendo la / su una qualsiasi altra (previo aggiornamento di fstab e grub.conf) mantenendo il sistema funzionante e senza dover reinstallare nulla
E se magari la nuova partizione ha anche un'altro filesystem (tipo da reiserfs a ext3, o isoxxx se voglio backupparla su dvd) ?
E se infine non è nemmeno più su un hd eide ma la sposto un un serial ata (o su uno scsi se ne avessi...) ?

P.S.
Tutto questo perchè volevo backuppare la / su dvd e in futuro spostarla un un hd serial ata
Sono ragionevolmente sicuro che si possa fare senza problemi, almeno per il primo "se"; per la seconda domanda sono "abbastanza" certo, mentre per la terza (il cambio di hd) sono insicuro perchè per esempio il livecd non mi becca il serial ata di default, e a volte (sotto determinate condizioni che si verificano in concomitanza con l'inserimento di un hd usb in fase di boot) nemmeno all'avvio! 8O

L'avevo già letta ma volevo rassicurazioni sul fatto che cambiare filesystem e soprattutto tipo di hd (da eide a sata) non desse conflitti (con cosa non saprei dire, ma del resto ci sono molte cose che ignoro ancora su linux e su cui non saprei dire assolutamente nulla)

No, non dovrebbe esserci nessun conflitto, naturalmente ricordati che devi cambiare ovviamente l'fstab e il file di configurazione del bootloader.
E che i driver sata o menate varie devono essere nel kernel :-P

io ho copiato la mia installazione da un hdd ad un altro usando il live cd...

ho montato la partizione /boot e / dal live cd, poi ho usato il comando tar -cvf per crearmi il boot.tar e il root.tar...ho montato le partizioni di destinazione e gli ho scompattato dentro i tar, sempre dal livecd sono entrato in /mnt/partzdestinazione/etc/fstab per modificare l'fstab, la stessa cosa per il grub.conf...ho chrootato la partizione di destinazione per farci girare il setup del grub...e basta mi pare...ho riavviato e via...

poi i due tar li ho pure compressi con gzip e mi occupano meno di 700mb...:D
