Ah.. I worked for 3 months in a shoe-store to afford my first-ever 3D accelerator card: A voodoo2 with 12 MB Guys.. this card was sweet.. I loved it and it is still working perfectly in my sister's PC.
It is really a pity, that 3Dfx didn't make it. The GLIDE interface was just beautiful.. easy to understand, lightning fast and created images beyond imagination.. at least to the graphic standards back in these days.
I miss it |

Hi everbody,
Hearing you all talk about voodoo graphic cards I wondered:
I have an 200Mhz PC and Voodoo1 Graphic card.
Is it possible to get the Voodoo 1 to run under Linux?
And than, how do I use the 3d acceleration? Can I use OpenGL with it? Or, which kind of applications can make use of it?
Thanks! |

Hi 3Dfx fans!
I had a Diamond Voodoo1 then a Voodoo2 and now in my Gentoo-Server-Box works a 3Dfx Voodoo3 3000 and she still work. I think 3Dfx was good graphiccards!

Hi everyone,
my First Voodoo was a Voodoo2, which was great at that time.
Therefore i bought this Voodoo3 which is great also, it did its job very good for many years.
Right now its in my "Router/Server/..." PC which is running 24/7 and I'm trying to get its TV-Out to wort because I want to use it as a VideoPlayer.
There is no Monitor on It, but a TV.
Now I got that strange Problem with this Voodoo3 3000.
Probably its just a stupid fault of me, but let's start...
I installed this tool nvtv (the 0.4.5 version, gentoo portage tree) and it worked fine (exept 4 just black and white).
But then, i needed to reboot (maybe i messed sth up with the kernel before?) and i bought a converter to get some color...
now, i started the thing again, but from now, it coultnt find the Tv Encoder Chip.
I get the following Errormessages:
root@dreadlock root # nvtv -t -C Convert -r 800,600 -s Large
Defaulting to PAL TV system.
Null chip: create
Null chip: Init
Cannot find 'Large' mode 800 x 600
Please specify as e.g. -r 800,600 -s Large
now the probe output:
root@dreadlock root # nvtv -P
NVTV 0.4.5 Probe

I googled for a while and read and read, i really dont know what this could be...
I use a 2.6.9 gentoo kernel.
I tried it without the converter too, no difference, btw.
Maybe one of you Voodoo-Fans got a solution?
thanks in advance,

My server still runs a Voodoo 3 3000. Still truckin'. Used to run Unreal Tournament like a champ. Have to say, I got pretty pissed off at nVidia when they quit supporting the Voodoo 3's drivers. Never were any native WinXP drivers. Not that I give a shit now, of course. B) _________________ "Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream."

| I still have a Velocity 100 lying around. When I got it, I was so happy with my 8MB card that could play a lot of games that had 16MB video memory as part of their system requirements. I don't know if that was because of the card or because of the PC, though. Anyway, it ran fine in Gentoo as well. Right now my PC has an Ati card stuck in it, though, because I wanted to see if I could get anything displayed on my TV. |

| Currently using a 3dfx voodoo 3 3500 AGP TV in this box but I'm planning on swapping my old geforce3 in as I replaced that one in my Win (:X) box with a 6800. |
