I've searched the forums for a similar topic but couldn't find one.. I think it would be nice with a 3dfx fanboy-club! Any ideas/suggestions/flames? Put them in this thread! :)

Those welcome are (of course) actual fanboys, wannabe-3dfx-owners and past fanboys. All your SLI-rigs are belong to us! :)

I have a voodoo4 4500 PCI somewhere, it's not in use now, but i got a lot of use out of it.

I've been meaning to put back in and use it for dual monitors, but haven't gotten around to it. I should do that, maybe this week.

Still using my Voodoo 5 here. :-) Although one of these days, I may finally upgrade so I can play e.g. Morrowind and Republic: The Revolution.

It's currently in my older Gentoo box (e.g: My Hardened toybox - I try out new security modules on it.)

How very nice to see this kind of response! :)

Tell me all the juicy details about the Voodoo4/5 when you bought them. Were they expensive? Did they kick ass?! Tell me all about it! :D (I always love to hear about 3dfx) ;)

I have 2 Voodoo2 12mb cards just sitting in my closet. I used to have them connected in SLI on my old machine and I was the envy of all my friends. Now I just sit and wonder what I can do with them.

3DFX isn't dead - In fact, nVidia based their GF-FX series of card on the old Voodoo design.

And look where that took 'em.

HA! Ive got you all bet in terms of old 3dfx cards. I once had a Pentium 120 with a 3DFX Voodoo in it. I was so happy, because I could finnaly play FF7 on it. Anyway, I think that we owned a Voodoo 3 once. Ahh, the joys of having your card limited to 256x256 pixel textures.

I still have my Voodoo2 cards in SLI, but not in use at the moment. They were the shit back in the day.

I used to own an old Vodoo2 card...I always enjoyed how, even in the early days, they used to offer good support for Linux...Now, since they were bought out by Nvidia, I believe, there is really no competition in the marketplace.

Matrox was another company that I liked, but it seems like they will tank...The Parhellia looked like a promising card series... However, with the high costs and lackluster performance, it failed to establish a true following....Matrox has not innovated and realeased anything new.... Paying $639 dollars for a Parhelia 256 card is just plain ludicrous.

I guess we'll have to be content with ATI and Nvidia's offerrings. :(

I have a voodoo2 and a voodoo3 AGP. The V3 is still in use, in my sister's computer. 3Dfx was way ahead of the curve in video card development. They had cards than needed multiple fans and an extra power connection WAY before ATI or nVidia did! ;)
