ut joystick problem

I have the following problem in Unreal Tournament
My joystick buttons work but the axis(directional pad) is not recognised. Jstest and a number of other games/utilities work flawlessly with my joystick(gavis gamepad pro usb), any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

well, i think the easiest way to help you would be this:
use a mouse and keyboard.

perhaps one day youll learn to youse your "mouse and keyboard" to offer suggestions instead of sarcasm

now, ive heard of people using a trackball/joystick combo to great success in fps's before, but a gamepad? you'd be much better off with mouse/keyboard. anyways, i guess the first step would be to tell me if the d-pad works in everything else.

From what you're writing here, I think you can safely deduce the problem is in UT2003 itself. You might be better served checking out Epics (?) forums for an answer, or filing a bug report.

Why is everyone so angsty here? Geez.

I have the same problem. I have a Microsoft Sidewinder, it works perfectly in other games, just not ut2003.. oh well

I just realized that some of the responses have been about ut2003...I am having the problem with original ut, version 4.36, but both are maintained by loki so the problems may be similar in nature...
I am glad to see that the bug is not specific to my system and have contacted loki about it. Hopefully it will be resolved, atleast for ut2003
