There should be support for installing Gentoo over a PPPoE ADSL internet connection. This should be supported ASAP!  |

This has been mentioned several times before. Someone might want to take the time to see if a feature request bug has been filed on bugs.gentoo.org...

in fact just having the ppp ebuild into the "big" (3 stages) CD download distro would be cool (it includes pppoe support) just for us ppp users
i had to dowload ppp from another os and stuff to install gentoo :/
(plus that i use pppoa so, i had to install some other stuff but that's another story (uses proprietary stuf, can't include in default distro) |

| Somewhat related to the PPPoE issue, is the PPTP program, since both of these are used to connect over xDSL lines. I also was forced to downlaod the pptp package from a different OS, just so i'd be able to bootstrap my Gentoo installation. |

PPTP? As in point-to-point tunneling protocol? PPTP has zero to do with xDSL. It's a VPN protocol, similar to IPSec, L2TP, etc.
Or perhaps you're referring to another PPTP?
