Get the following error during the emerge -u world or emerge -u gentoo-sources:

emerge -u gentoo-sources
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.4.19-r10 to /
>>> md5 ;-) linux-2.4.19.tar.bz2
>>> md5 ;-) patches-2.4.19-gentoo-r10.tar.bz2
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking linux-2.4.19.tar.bz2
>>> Unpacking patches-2.4.19-gentoo-r10.tar.bz2
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: /usr/bin/addpatches: No such file or directory

!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Function kernel_src_unpack, Line 34, Exitcode 127
!!! Addpatches failed, bad KERNEL_ExCLUDE?

Any ideas??
Thanks

I reckon the maintainer forgot to add a dependency during his latest ebuild revision. Just 'emerge addpatches' and you're all set to go.

Thanks a lot! Had not even thought about that... heh. It worked! :)

Just one more thing though. Don't know if it's a bug or a wanted "feature", but I thought I'd post it in case it's a bug, since it's the first time I've updated a kernel from Gentoo. When you emerge this, it does not update the link from /usr/src/linux to the new linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r10. Instead the link is kept to the new kernel, which in return breaks updates that needs a valid link to /usr/src/kernel, since it's an almost empty directory (like pcmcia-cs). So like I said, just wanted to point it out in case...

I'm not sure I understood you clearly, but what I do when I update the kernel, is emerge unmerge [old version] ; rm -rf /usr/src/linux ; emerge [new version]. Works great. ;)

Yeah... Guess that would be better. Kernel update just happened to be part of the world update that I was doing. Like I said, this is the first time that I had update a kernel with gentoo and emerge, so did not know if the emerge process was suppose to update the /usr/src/linux link or if it was expected to be done manually.
