Surestore DAT 24 & Gentoo

Hey,

I'm trying my first production install of gentoo on a client's file server today. and the file server has a HP SureStore DAT 24 tape drive (C1537A) in it. Now they have an tape backup already in their other server so getting this one working isn't a must, but would be nice. It's attached to a AHA-2930CU adaptec PCI card.

Does anyone know of any issues I should be aware of?
Can anyone recommend a tape backup program in gentoo? I've never tried getting a tape backup working in a linux environment before.
