I'm having trouble with Zinf (the mp3 player formerly known as FreeAmp) on my iBook. While mpg123 runs perfectly on /dev/dsp and with esd via esddsp, Zinf never played anything to me except noise. It'd tell me that my computer wouldn't handle 16bit audio, segfault or play a few seconds of noise. I remember reading about endianess issues on the FreeAmp mailing list, but that's a while ago so I thought that should have been solved by now - yet, the noise sounded very similar to what you get if you play 16bit audio with the bytes swapped.
Anyone got a working Zinf on gentoo/PPC? Or should I better use FreeAmp? I wouldn't want to use other mp3 players as Zinf is what I use on Windows and I have an eMusic subscription so I'd like to use the download and organization features of Zinf. _________________ http://keindesign.de/stefan/ |

I had the same problem with squelch. I couldn't figure why there was no sound (arts and oss).
There is no sound in XMMS with arts-output-plugin, too. But oss works fine.
Noatun works (with arts).
strange...
