Gentoo vs Debian ===== Poll is here =====

I used Debian for some time, something about 2 months, and i dont like them. In my opinion Debian isnt distribution which you could use on the desktop computer. It has too old packeges in woody, in the other way then i upgrade to sarge or sid this was hell, everything broken up, i dont say how much time i spend on searching the newest XFree on non-official servers, etc... So for me exist only Gentoo

Please don't use things like: "===== Poll is here =====" in your title, it makes you look stupid, and it's annoying.

I think gentoo and debian are both great distros, both have their uses. If I would build a rock solid, critical server, I would definitly go with debian if I had to use linux. A better choce would maby have been *BSD though. Gentoo on the other hand is great if you want the latest and grates.

been running gentoocat for 3 days now, built tons of source packages...

and so far I haven't had a single one crapped out on me

and tuning optimization for source and tweaking is fun

Gentoo, of course.

I was just wondering, why are there people here on the Gentoo Forum who prefer Debian? I am open-minded and dont mind (care) about that, but I thought there was a 100% lead of Gentoo :-)
