no chance. the fonts are in the flash and are rendered by the flash plugin. everything in flash is anti-aliased.
try to set the flash plugin to the lowest quality.
[not really OT, but not to be taken too seriously]
if that' s not what you want, try xvidcap & edit every single frame by hand with cinepaint (formerly filmgimp), thus removing the anti-aliasing. have fun.

Same video audio synch problems here. Although before this version, Flash crashed if it had sound. So, out of synch sound is better than crashing. Those Seinfeld Superman spots are hilarious even when they are out of synch. |

In reference to a post earlier in the thread:
I'm not getting the 2x speed, but the video and audio are out of synch by a second or two. |

Hi,
Can't see much improvement, sound is well out of sync - just like the last release. _________________ regards

Black border carries on appearing in all flash animations. Anybody has this problem too? _________________ La PDA de tungsteno |

Sadly, macromedia really missed the point of reaching the Linux desktop. Check out the wierd licensing scheme they concocted (if you care about such things). An ebuild would appear to violate the terms of the current licensing scheme.
check out newforge's article on this |

Well, I surely hope idiotic licensing scheme here will help open source world's cause in that it will make more web developers move away from this idiotic proprietary format towards open standards, such as SVG. The newsforge page referred would indicate that macromedia will be making some deals and changes to help the situation, but I'm still worried how all this auditing will do... |

I cant see SVG taking hold of the web any time soon.
IE doesn't support it natively, therefore the majority of web developers who dont care about standards wont use it.
I wish the same thing as you but it will take a long time before that happens. We really need a larger uptake of mozilla/firefox to make web designers follow standards. From standards comes freedom.

IE project doesn't support a thing, but lately I've seen a lot of authors getting frustrated at microsoft and translucent pngs incl. alpha transparency has been appearing, among other IE's borked features. But it's a known fact that the old IE hasn't been developed in ages except for the bug fixes; Microsoft decided to rewrite from scratch (afaik) and integrate the whole crap fully to operation system. It is expected that the Brave New IE-Longhorn component will have rather good support whenever it comes.
But that's really some offtopic ranting again |

Not meaning to rain on the parade but I am pretty sure that the SWF format is opensource, just not the tools _________________ glows in the dark |

Well that's fine to see, I actually got interested and searched a bit: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/open/licensing/fileformat/license2.html
Now if you thought the flash player license was being strict... Macromedia's license for tools derived using the spec makes actually requirements that macromedia's own tools do not fulfill
Bah, it also requires some sort of registration rituals. No time for that now. |

As I read through the licensing, a few points hit me...
1. This entire scheme appears to be a feeble attempt to detwermine
how many users are actually using Flash for various platforms for "forcing"
users to a new download for each computer and corporate reporting.
2. As I interpret it, each time you click on the download link,
you "accept" a non-exclusive "copy" of the EULA.
Thus, as long as you download the file from Shockwaves site for
each computer, rather than copying it across the LAN (which is forbidden), you are getting a separate EULA per computer.
(Watch out for cacheing proxies...)
3. As such, an ebuild for the new flash payer should not be a problem, as long
as NOFETCH is set, like for the sun-j{re,dk} packages. Gentoo doesn't distribute it, and the end-users themselves do the downloading. Gentoo is only responsible for moving the files in place, which is not forbidden by the EULA. (Watch out for NFS /opt and /usr mounts though.)
The ebuild is already in portage. We'll have to wait and see what Macromedia says, as there is no mention of licensing in bugzilla. |

I couldn't get that to work at all for me. I had to copy them to /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins/. That's for firefox v0.8. |

I have installed the flash-plugin by doing 'emerge netscape-flash' and all the files are in the right place. But still flash isn't working right in firefox, mozilla, or any other browser on my system.
I figured out that it does work when I link directly to a .swf file on the internet, but that it doesn't work when that file is embed into a webpage.
Anyone any idea ?

So um let's see. Many of us are still haveing the same sync issues as with version 6 right? I mean I will admit that 7 seems to do a little better (at least it [seems] to resync itself during a movie once it gets off) but it is not totally fixed by upgrading to version 7. Has anyone any new ideas on getting the sound to sync correctly? _________________ This post has been brought to you by The damianfactor! |
