All you have to remember for this one is "patching" by "mikki", and you get Patching the install CD, in which delta407 tells us it's here. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

ok then , I see sis5513 is compiled in, so what else could be the problem?
when I get to tar tar -xvjpf ./stage3-1.2.tbz2 it won't create directories, errors keep piling up, basically a damned mess.
Any ideas? |

they flash by pretty fast, but here goes:
hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error}
hda: dma_intr: error=0x40 {UnrecoverableError} LBASect=31577830, Sector=6291456
end-request: I/O error, dev 03:06 (hda), sector 6291456
Then lots of "cannot create directory" errors and all goes pear shaped.
I suspect maybe the bios should not be set for lba? what effect will this have on my win partiton if I change it?
By the way, I have md5summed the stage3_blah_tbz2 file and it seems ok. |

OK I turned off LBA, re-made the ext3 filesystems and reinstalled. It all seems ok now, and I am posting this on lynx while X and kde emerges. |
