i was trying to play some stuff with xmms and up popped a dialog box that says i need to check and see that
1. you have the correct output plugin selected
2. no other programs is blocking the soundcard
3. your soundcard is configured properly
it had worked flawlessly before now. i haven't done anything noteworthy that would screw this up. i dont use alsa, never have. i do have support for my sound card compiled into the kernel. any ideas on how to fix this? |

Have you checked point one and two on that list? I think I've had a similar problem and it was easily resolved by re-setting the output plugin in xmms.
Can't really thing of anything else that wouldn't have to do with those points, and if your card is correctly configured and so is xmms, then I guess it gotta me some process that is running in the background or something blocking your soundcard (like a second xmms, mplayer, or anything stupid). Tried the Error Correction Method #1 (TM)?? (= reboot )

i've checked all the setup of xmms. it all checks out fine. and there aren't any other processes that would be blocking the sound card. its just screwy. is there a way i can check to see if my soundcard is working right? |

Try to see if the modules of your sound card are loaded
