I want to make this a slightly more light-hearted thread than some might expect, so here are what I might want:
"Here lies <My full name>, and he's bloody annoyed"
or
"Here lies <My full name>, we are richer for having lost him"
Let's see if this takes off.. _________________ - I

One that I saw in the Sandman books stuck with me:
"Be to her virtues very kind,
Be to her faults a little blind."
Change Her with His, and we're in business. _________________ ...space shuttle of sin - redseal, circa December 2004

I used to be afraid I'd end up with the following on my tombstone:
| Quote: | Here lies M______ G________
1978-1994
He cut himself while shaving. |

I want my entire estate invested in bonds and used to buy a wireless hotspot at my grave site... I want my body dipped and encased in that sap the mosquitos were in in Jurassic Park, with my hands, exposed but dipped in gold, holding a wireless access point. It will be completely free to use, but i'll have etched on my grave "please place flowers for your sovereign"... There will also be a captive portal, and when you first open your browser it will point you to a web site with all of my Roms, Oggs, etc... free for download, and a little information about me.
At first, people will just visit my grave for free internet access, but I'm hoping eventually a few will start a cult in my honor. And no, my children will get nothing... except free internet access when the come to visit. Ooh, and I want glass eyes inserted into my head with some servo's so they can pitch back and forth wildly every once in a while... maybe some pimped out cathode ray tubes and some bitchin' 120mm fans... I'd also have a greeting card printing center in the back, with things like "Happy Birthday from Mike! <insert picture of rotting corpse>" ... oh yeah... this will work... |

In very small print so people need to get up close:

I don't wan't a tomb either but I read somewhere that there was a tombstone with this written:
"Here lies my Wife. I rest in peace." _________________ There is a lot of novelty and truth in what you say, but that which is true is not novel and that which is novel is not true. |

jjihn, that was f*ckin' great! Every bit was comedy gold! HAHahahahahahahaaa.
Ok, if I am lucky enough to get a tombstone ( I may need an unmarked grave to prevent desecration. This hinges on how well my campaign to rid earth of fools goes... ) it will be carved in the shape of a hand, giving the middle finger. A small plaque at the base of the middle knuckle will say:
"emerge sync && emerge -uD consciousness" _________________ My foot and your ass sure do make a great team. |

Burial is a waste of perfectly good land.
In the spirit of the thread though, "Don't you have anything better to do?" would work. _________________ Safety is my gaol.

Well, my body not being worth donkeys dong after my brain fries (other than organs being useable), I don't see the need to get burried. Can you just get, well I don't know, not done anything too, just cremated/burned and not have the ashes put anywhere (other than the trash) or is that illegal?
If I have to have a tombstone I guess it should say something like "Nothing to see here", or "This is a waste of everyones time!" or how 'bout "All your graves are belong to us!"....no skip that last one.... |
