Another Linux partitioning tool that exists is Disk Druid, although I don't know if it is part of the Gentoo distribution.
Why do you need something other than fdisk? Is it lacking a feature, or merely too hard to use? You can just ask for help with fdisk, y'know _________________ Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day. |

fdisk is the only partitioning tool supported on the installation media...give it a chance it grows on you |

Covered extensively in the past...

The general consensus is to let it grow on ya like a truffle.
It's really not /that/ bad. If you really really don't like it, then partition from somewhere else (like a different linux distro, or BeOS's disk manager (accessable from boot media)). _________________ StrCrssd

Yes, I agree
If you have problems with fdisk, there's cfdisk too. I think it should be included in the install ISO (or is it?).
Nevertheless, fdisk is not that hard to learn. Just look for a howto on google. |

I've been using "fdisk" for years in Linux, and I love it. I wouldn't use anything else (more accurately, I wouldn't trust anything else) to partition my hard drive.
It just takes some getting used to, but it's definitely worth it. It gives you a level of control (and speed!) that no other tool gives you... I fly through the questions in fdisk so fast that no-one can even tell what I'm doing (but I know, of course)...
Sure, you could do everything in some other partitioning tool, but fdisk is feature-complete and, imho, offers a rather good user interface once you're comfortable with it. _________________ Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day. |
