Hi there!
Tonight I read an announcement on osnews about glic 2.3. It's changelog says:
Quote: | Prelinking support was added for ELF targets. |
Some folks on osnews tell me, this isn't what I want to read (-> the object-prelinking stuff, increasing the statup speed of large c++ programs like kde).
So, my question: What does this mean for me as a gentoo user? Is it a big change from glibc 2.2 to 2.3 and how do I (mostly using KDE) benefit from this transition?
thanks for any info! |

Interesting. I could have sword that I read 2.3 would speed up start times (especially with larger programs). Will have to search for where I read that. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

There's a discussion about this in OSNews. When will Glibc 2.3 become available in Gentoo (or is it already)? Any news on improved performance? |
