Pure-ftpd doesn't like me anymore :(

I've setupped Pure-FTPD with gentoo 1.3 easily.

But now that I have 1.4rc1, pure-ftpd doesn't want to work anymore..

I've emerged it the usual way, change a bit at the configfile, rc-udpate, started it. But I can't login.

So I wanted to stop it. And it gave me two red !!....
So I just restarted it again, then I get the warning "pure-ftpd" has already been started.

Yet... I couldn't find anything similar to "pure-ftpd" with ps -uaxw!

Tried unmerged emerged several times. Even tried to reboot. Doesn't work.... Anyone please tell me what the problem is....

rc-scritps break if they think they started a service, but it actually failed to start. do "/etc/init.d/pure-ftpd zap" to manually set it to stopped, (if it thinks it's started). If you still can't start it then try to run it from the command line. You can find the command that the rc-script is using in /etc/init.d/pure-ftpd, and the parameters in /etc/conf.d/pure-ftpd. That should give you a better idea of any error messages. Also check in /var/log under everything and ftpd(i think).
