I've heard the scene is still alive...

Oh yeah, check out http://scene.org. There are 'divisions' now, of a sort. Linux demos, OpenGL demos. Music comps are now '4-Track', 'Freestyle', 'Ogg' and 'Mp3'. People are still writing stuff on Amiga's and C64's. In fact, I think Remedy ( the Max Payne guys ) entered something at ASM01 that ran on an Amiga4000 and won a prize of some sort.

So, are you interested? :-P

Sigh... I dreamed of that once. I don't exactly have the free time I did back in college or high school, and it's not like I ever managed to get it done back then. It _does_ sound really cool, but I doubt I even have the skillz anymore (or that I ever had them).

On the other hand... I've always thought it would be cool to write a realtime textmode mandelbrot zoomer...

Considering this was the man who helped teach Steve Vai, who would go on to perform music by holding his guitar at arms length and swining it through the feedback cone of his speaker, I wouldn't be surprised. ;-)

Mourning Beloveth - Dust
Saturnus - Paradise Belongs to you
Green Carnation - Light of Day, Day of Darkness

I don't believe in cheerful music!

I also must recommend that everyone who likes death/doom metal go out and buy that Saturnus album as it's very nice
