|

I forgot to compile support for my network card into my kernel during the initial install, and now - following the same instructions - I can't seem to get the new bzImage to take over!
Is there a missing step in the install doc?
If it matters, I'm using reiserfs and lilo. |

Are you mounting /boot before you mv the old bzImage and copy the new one?
EDIT: I missed that you were using lilo, so this may not be relevant. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo?

As you are using lilo, are you re-running lilo before you boot? (You might want to move to grub as it avoids this step).

The problem when I first started recompiling my kernel was that I did not have a symlink from linux to linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r7 so when I worked with the kernel I was working with the linux kernel not the linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r7 kernel. See if you have a symlink from linux to linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r7 if not create the link (ln -s linux-2.4.19-genoo-r7 linux) or make sure you do your make on linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r7. You also have to complete the above steps to receive you new kernel image. Let us know if you are still have problems and the output of the ls -l command in the /usr/src directory and I should be able to help you with the commands needed to help with kernel. Good Luck |
