Is it possible to have the 2 sounds systems:
- ALSA
- Kernel
activated and working at the same time.

I dont think its possible if there is only one sound card. The modules will compile but only the first to load will run sound. So you could use ALSA for one thing then unload the modules and loaad the kernel ones for anothe program, but not at the same time. |

Not at the same time, I think. You'd have conflicts when accessing the audio card. Unless I am missing some very interesting point in the design of sound drivers...

I started out using kernel sound, then switched to ALSA. I still haven't removed the line in the config file that loads the kernel module.
As such, I can report that, on my machine, only the first module loads. The second one results in an error message. |
