Im in the beginning of the end (step 17) in my Gentoo installation and when I am typing "etc-update" i get:
scanning configuration files...
Exiting: No files to work on!
I have followed the manual and everything has gone well until this step, I have even tried to change to /etc and type it there, but the result is the same. |

Although I can see how it sounds a bit "error-y", that message is what etc-update says if it doesn't have anything to do. I would ignore it and keep going. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Since all the packages are being installed for the first time you won't have any config files being replaced so this should not be a problem.
