everything went great but when i reboot, it loads grub and then goes straight to a grub command prompt. i want to be able to get past this and start using gentoo! if you can link me to a previous entry about this or help me out at all it would be greatly appreciated. thanks :D

and if it helps my HD is setup like in the install manual
/dev/hda1 = boot
/dev/hda2 = swap
/dev/hda3 = root

boot is ext2
root is reiserfs
im figuring that it cant boot the kernel or something

Look in the install guide for the section on setting up GRUB's menu.lst, and, if needed, the links in http://forums.gentoo.org/faq.php#10.

at the console type

Code: Select all

configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst
Oh and make sure the name of menu.lst is correct. The extension is L S T not 1 S T and not in caps.
