|

Hi All,
I'm looking for definitive (not subjective) proof that Linux outperforms Solaris on a SPARC box. I've mentioned to my boss that Linux should run our Blade better than Solaris does, and his response was "Impossible, Sun make the hardware, they make the software, the know how to get the best out of it!"
Any sites / references I can suggest to him to consider Linux on SPARC? URLs would be great! Even if they link to this forum. A better URL would be one where it points to a Sun site.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated...

Sun's big advantage is when you use their compiler, which I don't think is available on Linux. Some stuff on Solaris is really snappy but then there's things that just seem really slow such as booting.
Another advantage of Linux is more hardware support. Just about any PC hardware can work in an Ultra when using linux (except video cards) _________________ Inspiron 4100 & Sun UltraAXe
