Hello people,
i'm new with gentoo (i used in the past only centos/redhat and some slackware).
i downloaded the livecd-installer 2008beta2. and i want to install it on a raid 0 but it's unable to see the raid.
hardware: Mb -asus a8v-deluxe
promise raid controller
2x sata hdd.
at the moment the installation procces can see sda and sdc
it's possible to make this work?
thx in advance |

hardware or software raid? note: some motherboard onboard raid controllers aren't really raid controllers... they're just ide controllers with a special windows driver.
(need more info about the raid chip)

from what i read about that chip, you have one of those fakeraid chips... install mdadm and configure software raid instead... it's easier than fighting to get device-mapper working.

try 3ware or adaptec... you should be able to find one that is a real hardware raid...
