Sorry it took some much time, but here's the latest wallpaper without the KDE logo, AKA "Gentoo Purple Haze".

Well, the original (and slow) server is down, I moved the images to a faster server and edited the previous message links to the new server. Should be OK by now.

Thought i'd try my hand at a wallpaper and i'm not too sure what happened. It started off as something simple, dark and plain to replace the default gnome, headed off towards some kind of political statement, and then shot off somewhere towards megalomania. I think I need to see a shrink.

The jpg image is at 1600x1200 220Kb but there is also a .png of the same size if you just change the jpg in the link to png. That's a little smoother but the downside is it's 1Mb

Well, I went all out and made different sizes after someone requested one size. I like larry the cow. Enjoy

Okey dokey, I knocked up another, a bit brighter this time.

Marks out of 10 for artistic merit =1
Marks out of 10 for gratuitous abuse of any filters daft enough to get in the way = 10!! :lol:

It's a bit abstract as a result, but I like it

The image below links to the 1024 version which still weighs in at a rather portly 400k

This is a link to the 1600x 1200 jpg which comes in at an even heftier 900k.

Then for the sadists amongst us there is the 1600x1200 png version tipping the scales @ just over 2Mb

I submitted a new wallpaper that I created and posted it in the "Desktop Forum"....but it was moved to "Duplicate threads". Anyway This was my first attempt at being artistic, so be nice

....but tell me what you think.

Here is the link to the post with the images. They are on Kde-Look. But the way they are named, the 1024x768 image is actually V2.....I did some enhancing and tweaked the original image....which is actually the 1280x1024 image.

Here are the correct links:

1280x1024 Image
1024x768 Image

Just right click on it and "save image as" (but of course you know that :wink:

)

Please comment on it, I'd like everyones opinion

. Could you make a minimal version of it too with just the G in the center and maybe a black/white/dark colored background? Because for me its a little much, but I still like it. I'm just critiquing it like I would any art.

Looks very good, but you should loose the lens flare IMHO, it overloads the image.

I've created a SodiPodi vector drawing from the original Gentoo logo. I thought it looked quite nice
so I started to create some wallpapers. Afther creating five, I got the idea to post them here and asked
for comment.

Below are the thumbnails from the wallpapers. When you click the url you can choose
from a several formats: 1600x1200, 1280x1024, 1024x768 and also the original Gimp file which I used
to create the wallpaper so you can make your own modifications.

Feel free to post any comment or suggestions you have...

So, after much waiting and putting it aside, I decided to try the GIMP. I had a very positive experience, it was much like Adobe Photoshop, and though there were things I missed, there were also things I'd never seen before. So this is my first thing made in the GIMP, a gentoo wallpaper.

A couple of things; it is made in 1280x960, because that's my favorite resolution at the moment. I think it will also look okay in 1152x864, but please don't scale it down(or up) because that will ruin the bitmap font.

So, I made another one, because the other was too bright and I don't like yellow. This one is blue, and is really just a mix of filters. :roll:

I was hoping to do something really fun with ice cubes and stuff, but then GIMP crashed. :twisted:

nevermind, i got it to work. i tried right-clicking (save target as...) and it would time out. when i right-clicked it worked fine, though.
