EDIT: Wallpaper for 2003 --pjp

Sorry to bump up this thread, but mksoft, your background is excellent, but doesn't look right stretched, trimmed or cut off when i load it on my monitor, 1280x768. Its a widescreen one.

If at all possible, could you knock one up at that resolution, or just the smae aspect but larger, if its easier.

Hope you can, i'll be everso greatful :) :) :)

Cheers,

KRistian

Oh, the 1st one, it's called emergence. Rendered one for ya, get it from:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~mksoft/emergence_1280x768.jpg

You can get the blender scene from there as well and play with it (see my home page @ dev.gentoo.org).

Sorry it took me so long, my Gentoo's root partition was hozed by qtparted, and had to reinstall :-(

Cheers for that, it looks great!! I'll emerge blender tommorrow and have a play as well, never even heard of it before ;)

Thanks again,

Rather than using stuff like blender, has anyone tried constructing stuff through an engineering package such as Pro/E or SolidWorks? If so, I wouldn't mind getting my grubby hands on some iges files or the like.

So you want feedback? Well, the lightning looks really good. I don't know how you did those, they look better than those I've tried to make (from this tutorial).

The lightning striking from the gentoo logo ties gentoo and the lightning together, but the pattern on the left looks out of place. What is it? It looks like some kind of micro organism? I'd save it for a separate wallpaper if I was you. Keep it simple. :)

The gentoo logo is surrounded by lightning, but they don't reach the G. Instead, it's surrounded by a pale halo. Also, the lightning striking radially in every direction from the G looks too artificial. How about a single lightning bolt from top to bottom (or diagonally), striking through the G, and giving the G a very bright halo. Perhaps move the G a little, to about a third from the top of the image (golden rule).

The glowing circles some of the lightning origins from draw attention from the G. I think it looks better when the lightning bolt fades out (like the one in the bottom left) or just cross the image border and disappear.

Last but not least, make sure you provide higher resolutions if you want people to use it.

I hope I wasn't too negative, but you did ask for it ;). Good job.
