Can someone provide a concise list of the steps I need to get 1.4 installed if my only internet connection is an 802.11b wireless card? I know that to get any PCMCIA working I have to use the 1.2 CD for now, but it goes beyond the steps I would need if I were using a wired network.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to get this working this past weekend before I had to give up and go travelling for work this week. I'm hoping someone will take pity on me so that I can install when I am home again this weekend for a couple of days.
I live in a remote community and our broadband is via 802.11b. I would attempt this via dial-up, but it doesn't sound like that is going to be much simpler based on reading other posts.
If I need to, and I probably do, I can make do with the orinoco_cs driver on the 1.2 CD. I've filed a feature request for getting the linux-wlan-ng drivers on the install CD in the future, but I don't expect that to get finished before 1.4 is finalized.
Anyway ... I can get 1.2 install image running and I have the 1.4 stage 3 tarball. My problem is configuring the precompiled orinoco_cs driver to work with a Prism2.5 802.11b card (specifically a Demarctech 180mW card). If someone has done this successfully to install Gentoo and could share their steps, it would help me out significantly
Thanks,
