You know I know that 95% of computers run windows. But how many computuers that gamers use have windows? Like what is the operating system percentage (i.e. windows, macOS, linux, etc.) of gamers. Does that make sense? I think if you take out the business users, ma & pa users, and all other non-gamers, what percentage is left that don't want to use windows and would rather use linux or macOS to play their games?

Sorry for being off topic. Has anyone written blizzard and asked them if they plan to support a linux client because of that new api?

Even with those numbers there are still millions of linux users world wide. I am not sure how many of them are gamers though.

I would be impressed with 170,000 signatures but 17,000 just does not do it for me at all. To me that number is negative advertisement saying to blizzard that if they go linux there really is not a market. 17,000 is less than 0.5% of their windows market for the game (if we believe the slashdot number of 3.5 million above). I'd bet blizzard sells that many copies of the windows version a week being that their sales of the game are in the millions.

Well, here's some news for you: That's what it costs to play it; unless you pay for three or six months in advance, then you get a little break. I assume that everyone who signed that petition is aware of that, as well as the 3.5 million subscribers they already have.

Thank You, I did not know that. In the several outlets I have seen it online there was no mention of a subscription.

With that price I can understand only 17,000 signitures.

I'd be more than happy to pay that much. WOW is that good of a game.

Blizzard has a hard enough time supporting the Mac, never mind Linux. Jerks.

Is your name Elvis Presley perchance? Or Mr S. Clause?

I suspect they may have a list of possible 'fake' names that are filtered out.

My name (John Drescher) did not work when I tried to sign the petition around 2 months ago. I got the same error exact error as LubosD. After several tries on several different days I gave up.

I wonder how many signings we've missed out on because of this?

Alternatively, you can set up and run your own private server and play it without the subscription cost.

Thanks for the info. I may check this out (if I can find a free minute...). Any guides for this? Does this violate the license??

Probably, since they wouldn't be getting money off of you monthly.

You really think so? I doubt it, even if it surpassed the 20.000 signs.

But I dont really care, much of my friends are WoW addicts and I simply don't like the game, because much people became additives and cant talk about anything else then WoW.

Sure the game looks nice but playing a game of CS:Source 1 hour a day is more then enough game fun for a day for me

I would sign the petition just to get more games for linux, but since they want to call me by telephone I decided not to sign

(Perhaps episode 6 of http://www.purepwnage.com will let you understand LOL its a must-have)

I was surprised to see Linux on the list of selectable operating systems.
I don't know how Blizzard is going to handle this... Could be a native version? Are they going to give betatesters a copy of Cedega?

Where can i sign up for that?

My name is Lubo¹ Dole¾el...it is a ISO-8859-2 compatible name

I have no real reason for signing this...so I won't use ASCII compatible "Lubos Dolezel" :)
