I'm playing around with the GentooForZaurus project, and I always get the following lines when doing anything with emerge:

# emerge -vp tree
Performing Global Updates: /usr/portage/profiles/updates/1Q-2004
(Could take a couple minutes if you have a lot of binary packages.)
.='update pass' *='binary update' @='/var/db move'
...................portage: Update type "slotmove" not recognized.
.....................
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] app-text/tree-1.4

why does it perform a global update everytime? and what does it mean by 'Update type "slotmove" not recognized."? the system has porgate-2.0.49-r3 installed... |

| Update portage if possible. Your version doesn't support slotmove. |
