I think we need a thread that, in one place, lists all of the [good] games available for Linux, how to get them running, and where to get the files (by good, I mean games like UT and Half-life, not the standard X, KDE, and GNOME games that are obviously available). I know there are a whole bunch of Windows games that either have Linux binaries or can be played through wine, but I doubt everyone here knows about all of them (including myself). Here are a couple to get us started.

Unreat Tournament 2003 - supports Linux natively. Linux version included with retail copy, demo can be download here.

Unreal Tournament - can be installed/played using Loki's binaries available here.

What else is out there?

Quake 3 Arena - Just copy the data files to your hard drive and install a Linux point release (Loki initated these, IIRC). A boxed Linux version is available as well, I think.
Soldier of Fortune (I), Sim City 3000, Alpha Centauri, Civilization III, Tribes and others have also been ported by Loki.
As all of the Loki games are listed on the Loki site, why not just list the organizations who take care of the porting, and link to the lists on their sites?

Tons of work going on over at http://www.icculus.org/ - Freespace 2, Unreal Linux, Descent 2, Heretic, Hexen, Quake2. Haven't tried any of these, but I'm going to load Freespace 2 when I get a chance. I think most of these projects require you to install under DOS/Winderz first, but maybe there is a way to get the data files off the CDs without installing under a lame OS first.

I'm quite surprised that people still fail to mention the following websites:

Note though that the 2nd link is originally written in german, but contains a link for english-speaking people as well. The holarse-website has got quite a collection on succes-stories for wine&winex.

It's not mentioned here, but I'm pretty sure most of you already bookmarked 'The Linux Game Tome':

NeverWinter Nights works fine under bin version of winex and also works with emerged wine ( although no movies with wine) seems to run best by starting it with the nwmain.exe ,sound works good ,and frame rate appears similar to windows ,unfortunatley installer doesnt work requiring a copy over from your windows install.

Kohan Transgaming have done a port , works really nice the graphics and ai tweak for the GOTY edition is really nice.

Cheers
Dale.

I could not find Unreal Linux. Where does it reside?
