1.4_rc1 stucks after bootstrapping with stage 3 tarball

hi folks,

i browsed the forums before posting, but notthing i read worked out, so no "already has been there!" - flames pleaze *gg*

i unpacked the stage 3 and chrooted quite successfully.
Time to emerge a kernel and other basics, i think, but emerge always says
"Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available. Probably an 'emerge sync' should fix that!" and furthermore
"No profile directory; system mode unavailable!"

Obviously 7etc/make.profile/" has not been in the stage3 tar ball, where do i get it?
And yes, i ran "emerge sync" several time by now...
In actual state i cannot run emerge but for (r)syncing...

any help is highly appreciated! >8^)

Well, if anybody wants to know....

make a symlink to /usr/portage/profiles/yourprofile to /etc/make.profile.

it seems s.o forgot that in the stage... >8^)

keep it on, guys !
