I use KDE 3.1, and Gentoo 1.4, but this has ocured with 3.0.X and 1.2

I have a dualy p3 600 and 256meg o ram, so i no this isnt the problem. I tried hdparm stuff, but it didnt help. i donth think that is an issue b/c i get 25mb/s, and my hd light is rarly on.

it take abt 30 secs for mozzila or konq to pop-up, but once it is up it is very fast. It takes about as long for the settings menu of the screensaver thingie to pop up.

occording to kde system guard, more than 125 meg of ram are in buffer, but only 75 are going to apps does this have nething to do wiuth it.

I use reiserfs, is there any chance i need to defrag, and ifso how?

another wierd thing is that the tips screen that shows up whenever i start a kde app is much wider than my sceen, very bizzar. thiss happend in 3.0.x too.

PS: I LOVE PORTAGE!!

Tooltip font in KDE is the same as the "General" font. If you go to "Control Center->Look & Feel->Fonts" and change the "General" font setting, it should affect tooltips too.

I am not sure whether there is finer-grained control, but I don't believe there is.
