Does anyone know the permissions I use on my ~/htdocs/ user directory to have apache provide the http://localhost/~username service? |

I think you'd only have to make sure ~/htdocs/ is world readable. right?
I've had problems with this in the past where only when I set the users directory to be world readable was I able to view http://localhost/~username/, but I dont think thats a good idea.
play around with the permissions ... see what works ... just make sure you dont make your users' directories insecure.
I don't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing, but thats my two cents. _________________ - Joseph Monti

Apache uses ~/public_html/ directory by default. If you want to use ~/htdocs/ you should either create a symlink (?) or to set it site widely in /etc/apache/conf/commonapache.conf _________________ --kirill |

Thanks, I got it. It's the ~/public_html directory name, htdocs. I renamed it, and had to set my own home directory permissions to 755 (by default they're 700), I made sure the public_html was 755 and now it works great. Thanks again. |
