i have an abit bd7II (i845) motherboard, it comes in 2 flavors, RAID and non RAID. I have the non-raid version (dont need it)
I have read ever spec, tid-bit, review, piece of information on this board, and I still cant find out what IDE chipset I have. WTF!
anyone have this board, or know where i can get info on how to find what chipset I have?
thanks in advance.

Code: | cat /proc/pci | grep -i ide | should help ... _________________ A mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems. ~ Alfred Renyi (*1921 - †1970) |

well i am not really sure , i have been running amd and via since i started using linux so i ahvent had to think about what your asking....looking in the kernel config i really dont see any options specific for the newer intel chipsets so before you worry too much about it just compile support into the kernel for all the dma stuff (stuff taht is usually selected by default) like 'generic pci ide chipset support', 'sharing pci ide interrupt support' , 'generic pci bus master dma support' , and 'use pci dma by default when available'.
after that run hdparm -tT /dev/hdx and see what your getting for cache and disk reads. |
